Basketball Game Preview: Tom Bean Tomcats vs. Cumby Trojans

The Tom Bean Tomcats and the Cumby Trojans will round out the year against one another at at 11:30 a.m. on Friday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Having struggled with four defeats in a row, Tom Bean turned things around against Trenton on Thursday. They walked away with a 32-23 win over the Tigers.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Tom Bean to victory, but perhaps none more so than Sam Lind, who posted eight points along with 12 boards and six steals. Lind has been hot recently, having posted ten or more boards the last three times she's played. Taylor Vick was another key player, almost dropping a double-double on 15 points and nine boards.

Tom Bean smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 19 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive boards in three consecutive matchups.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Cumby, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They took their game on Friday with ease, bagging a 44-7 victory over Yantis. The Trojans have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five contests by 25 points or more this season.

Cumby is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 8-6 record this season. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 40 points. As for Tom Bean, their win was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 8-7.

Tom Bean and Cumby were neck-and-neck when the teams last played back in November, but Tom Bean came up empty-handed after a 38-37 loss. Can Tom Bean avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
