Softball Recap: Atherton's Luck Changes for the Better on Monday

Atherton can bid farewell to their four-game losing streak thanks to their game on Monday. They had just enough and edged out the Bullitt East Chargers 4-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Ravens have posted since March 28th.

Charlee Heselschwerdt spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on one hit and racked up eight Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Crissy Reese, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That home run marked the first that she has launched this season.

Atherton's record is now 6-17. As for Bullitt East, their loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 22-7.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Atherton will venture away from home to take on Fern Creek at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Bullitt East, they will head out to square off against Franklin County at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Chargers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Flyers have averaged an impressive 9.3 runs per game this season.
