Softball Recap: Banneker Bulldogs vs. Jackson-Reed Tigers

If Banneker was riding high off their 19-2 takedown of Roosevelt last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Banneker Bulldogs suffered a tough 18-10 defeat at the hands of the Jackson-Reed Tigers on Tuesday. Both teams can probably skip cardio this week after making that many trips around the bases.

For Jackson-Reed's part, Alex Nehrer was incredible, going 3-for-3 with five stolen bases, six RBI, and three runs. Nehrer is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now stolen at least one in the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Kala Fletcher, who scored two runs and stole four bases while going 1-for-1.

Banneker's loss dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Jackson-Reed, their victory ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 5-5.

Banneker will be playing in front of their home fans against School Without Walls at 4:00 p.m. on April 4th. As for Jackson-Reed, they will head out on the road to challenge Model Secondary School for the Deaf at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Jackson-Reed is strutting in with some hitting muscle, as they've averaged 10.6 runs per game this season.
