Baseball Game Preview: George West Longhorns vs. Odem Owls

The George West Longhorns will square off against the Odem Owls at 7:30 p.m. on Monday.

On Friday, George West came up short against West Oso and fell 6-1. The Longhorns have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Dylan Thomisee was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 3-for-4. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played.

Meanwhile, Odem came tearing into Tuesday's contest with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 4.7 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 5-4 W against the Pirates. The game was the first time the Owls have beaten the Pirates on their field since April 23, 2021.

John Harrington spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned (and two unearned) runs on six hits.

At the plate, Chaise Ford and Gio Beltran did most of the damage at the plate: Ford went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI, while Beltran scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances. That double was Ford's first of the season. Another player making a difference was Caleb Gonzalez, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3.

Odem's victory bumped their record up to 14-7. As for George West, they now have a losing record of 15-16-2.
