Baseball Game Preview: Tindley Tigers vs. Herron Achaeans

Tindley hasn't had much luck against Herron recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Tigers will welcome the Achaeans at 5:30 p.m. Tindley has given up an average of 13.8 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Tindley came up short against Irvington Preparatory Academy on Wednesday, falling 13-3.

Tindley saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Justus Johnson, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one run. Another was Wilson Makori, who earned one run and three stolen bases.

Meanwhile, Herron got themselves on the board against Indianapolis Shortridge on Tuesday, but Indianapolis Shortridge never followed suit. They were the clear victors by a 7-0 margin over the Blue Devils. The win was some much needed relief for the Achaeans as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

Colvin Meek made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one hit in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Elon Sharp, who went 1-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. Colin McHugh also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Tindley's loss dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Herron, their victory bumped their record up to 2-3.

Tindley suffered a grim 21-5 defeat to Herron in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. Can the Tigers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
