Baseball Game Preview: Kanab Cowboys vs. South Sevier Rams

The Kanab Cowboys will square off against the South Sevier Rams at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Kanab 3.9, South Sevier 2.5) so any runs scored will be well earned.

South Sevier will take on a team with plenty of momentum: Kanab extended their winning streak to three on Tuesday. The Cowboys walked away with a 9-4 victory over the Rams.

Walker Baird spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned (and two unearned) runs on four hits and racked up ten Ks. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Kanon Virostko was excellent, scoring a run while going 1-for-4. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in RBI (three). Kale Glover was another key player, scoring two runs while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances.

Kanab pushed their record up to 11-6 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for South Sevier, their win bumped their record up to 15-4.
