The Swanton Bulldogs will venture away from home to square off against the St. Ursula Academy Arrows at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Swanton is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.6 runs per game this season.
Swanton gave up the first runs last Monday, but they didn't let that get them down. They were the clear victors by a 15-5 margin over Northwood. The Bulldogs haven't had any issues with the Rangers recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.
Beyla Remer made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching six innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off eight hits. Remer was even better at the plate, scoring a run while going 3-for-5.

In other batting news, Carli LaGrange was incredible, firing off two home runs and six RBI while going 4-for-4. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. Alexa Faber was another key player, scoring three runs while getting on base in all five of her plate appearances.
Swanton was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .486. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .444 or higher in three consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, St. Ursula Academy posted their closest victory since April 18, 2024 on Wednesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 7-6 win over Central Catholic. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Arrows.
Like Swanton, St. Ursula Academy also got a great game from a two-way player: Brooke Bowers. On the mound, she struck out 12 batters over seven innings while giving up three earned (and three unearned) runs off seven hits. Bowers has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run and three RBI.
Bowers wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Sydney Schlachter, who scored two runs while going 3-for-4. Sydney Hoffman also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.
Swanton's record now sits at 3-5. As for St. Ursula Academy, the victory got them back to even at 3-3.
Thursday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Swanton has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .431. However, it's not like St. Ursula Academy struggles in that department as they've averaged .461. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
