Basketball Recap: Gramercy Christian Falls Despite Big Games from Riley Kincer and Diego De Hoyos

Gramercy Christian was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They fell 55-42 to the Christ Covenant Spartans. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Spartans this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 67-63 last Tuesday.

Diego De Hoyos and Riley Kincer certainly did their best on Thursday to avoid the loss. De Hoyos posted seven points, while Kincer scored six points and eight boards.

Even though they lost, Gramercy Christian smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in 15 consecutive matchups.

Christ Covenant had a senior duo take command as Noah Stein put up 18 points along with five rebounds and four steals and JD Dill dropped a double-double with 20 points and 18 boards. The game was Stein's ninth in a row with at least 15 points.

Gramercy Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 10-16. As for Christ Covenant, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 13-12.

Gramercy Christian does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Christ Covenant, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 47-21 loss against Community Christian on the 21st.
