Alexander Central has gone 9-1 against Ashe County recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Alexander Central Cougars will look to defend their home court against the Ashe County Huskies at 8:00 p.m. Ashe County took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Alexander Central, who comes in off a win.

Last Friday, Alexander Central didn't have too much trouble with North Wilkes as they won 44-29.

Alexander Central can attribute much of their success to Jayon Connor, who posted 18 points and six boards, and Jaheim Redmond, who put up eight points along with six assists and six boards. That makes it four consecutive games in which Connor has scored at least a third of Alexander Central's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jahmir Miller, who posted six points.

Alexander Central smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've posted since back in February of 2024.

Meanwhile, in Wednesday's Canine Competition, Ashe County had to take the L. They came up short against North Surry on Wednesday, falling 80-54.

Alexander Central's victory bumped their record up to 6-7. As for Ashe County, they now have a losing record at 5-6.

Alexander Central took their win against Ashe County when the teams last played back in February of 2024 by a conclusive 64-39. Will Alexander Central repeat their success, or does Ashe County have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
