Volleyball Recap: Wagener-Salley Has No Trouble Against Calhoun County

Wagener-Salley not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since September 10, 2024 (when they won 3-0). Everything went their way against the Calhoun County Saints as they made off with a 3-0 win. That's more bragging rights for the War Eagles, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Wagener-Salley never let Calhoun County on the board, but things got pretty close in the second set. The match finished with set scores of 25-17, 27-25, 25-18.

Kennedi Kitchings paced Wagener-Salley's offense, picking up 11 kills. Kitchings got some help from Betty Jo Klapko and her 20 assists. Kendall Wathen controlled things from the service line, finishing with ten aces.

Ella Mina and Cassidy Pough certainly did their best on Thursday to avoid the loss. Mina had 11 digs and two aces, while Pough had seven kills, seven digs, and four blocks. Pough has been hot, having posted four or more blocks the last seven times she's played.

The victory made it two in a row for Wagener-Salley and bumps their season record up to 4-5. As for Calhoun County, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-3.

We've got plenty of inter-region action coming up soon. Wagener-Salley is set to challenge their familiar foe Hunter-Kinard-Tyler at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Calhoun County will face off against rival Horse Creek Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
