Basketball Game Preview: Wilkes Central Eagles vs. Surry Central Golden Eagles

It'll be a Battle of the Birds when the Wilkes Central Eagles duke it out with the Surry Central Golden Eagles at 5:45 p.m. on Tuesday... Wilkes Central hasn't scored more than 23 points for seven games straight, a trend the squad is eager to reverse.

Last Friday, Wilkes Central was beaten by North Surry 60-9. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 503rd, while the Greyhounds are ranked 63rd).

Meanwhile, Surry Central was able to grind out a solid victory over West Wilkes on Friday, taking the game 47-37.

Wilkes Central's defeat dropped their record down to 2-15. As for Surry Central, their win bumped their record up to 11-4.

Wilkes Central was dealt a bruising 63-10 loss at the hands of Surry Central when the teams last played back in December of 2024. That game was all but decided by halftime, at which point Wilkes Central was down 37-3.
