The matchup between Albemarle and Monticello on Thursday hardly resembled the 2-0 effort from their previous meeting. The Patriots fell just short of the Mustangs by a score of 5-4. Even though they lost, Albemarle's still made a splash on offense and bumped their average scoring up to 2.6 goals per game (they're now ranked -1th in scoring overall).

They hit Monticello with a four-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Jacob Brazie, Matthew Mayo, Devin Kriebel, and Gavin Appel.

Albemarle's loss was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 4-2-1. As for Monticello, the victory keeps they at an undefeated 5-0-1.

We've got plenty of inter-region action coming up soon. Albemarle will take on rival Charlottesville at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Both teams are headed into the matchup with plenty of momentum (Albemarle have won three straight at home, while Charlottesville won four straight on the road), something that'll have to change. Meanwhile, Monticello is set to face off against their familiar foe Western Albemarle at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
