Basketball Recap: East Clarendon Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

East Clarendon had to endure a ten-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They walked away with a 48-38 victory over the Kingstree Blazers on Friday. This was a revenge game for the Wolverines: when they faced off against the Blazers back in January, they had to take a 58-55 loss.

Despite the loss, Kingstree still got an impressive performance from Mal'Aki Matthews, who posted 13 points and seven steals. Joh'Metrius Chandler was another key player, putting up six points.

East Clarendon's win was their first in the region, bumping their region record up to 1-7 and their overall record up to 6-14. As for Kingstree, their defeat was their eighth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 5-17.

East Clarendon and Kingstree could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps South Carolina Rankings. East Clarendon (ranked 241st) will meet Mullins (ranked 48th) at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Kingstree will challenge Marion at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday down 156 places (255 vs. 99).
