Basketball Game Preview: Springstead Eagles vs. Hernando Leopards

The Springstead Eagles will face off against the Hernando Leopards at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Both are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

Springstead is headed into the matchup after thoroughly thrashing Crystal River: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Springstead blew Crystal River out of the water with a 68-36 final score. The Eagles have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 12 games by 24 points or more this season.

Springstead's win on Tuesday was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Briana Coleman, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 13 rebounds. Those 13 boards gave Coleman a new career-high. J'Ziyah Munford was another key player, going 5 of 11 en route to 12 points along with eight assists and three steals.

Springstead was working as a unit and finished the game with 15 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Crystal River only posted three assists.

Meanwhile, Hernando entered their tilt with Hernando Christian Academy on Thursday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Lions 48-16.

Springstead pushed their record up to 18-5 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 24.8 points per game. As for Hernando, their victory bumped their record up to 12-10.

Everything came up roses for Springstead against Hernando in their previous meeting on January 10th, as the team secured a 49-15 win. Will Springstead repeat their success, or does Hernando have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
