Basketball Recap: Central Comes Up Short

Central was the 75-51 winner over Citrus when they last played one another back in January, but their luck changed this time around. The Central Bears fell 53-46 to the Citrus Hurricanes on Tuesday. The Bears' loss continues a trend for the squad, making it four in a row.

Despite the loss, Central still got an impressive performance from Braydon Prospero, who posted 13 points and six boards. Another player making a difference was Xavior Haegele, who scored 12 points.

It was another big night for Landon Hensley, who went 9 for 18 to rack up 22 points along with eight assists and six rebounds for Citrus. That's the most points Hensley has posted since back in December of 2024. Kevon Jefferson was another key player, putting up seven points in addition to eight boards and five blocks.

Central's defeat dropped their record down to 11-10. As for Citrus, their win was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 2-19.

Central wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 39-24 loss against Nature Coast Tech on the 31st. As for Citrus, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 101-69 defeat against Lecanto on the 31st.
