Baseball Recap: Zion-Benton Takes a Loss

Zion-Benton was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They lost 8-0 to the Mundelein Mustangs. The Zee-Bees were not able to make up for their defeat to the Mustangs from their previous meeting back in April of 2024.

Andrew Neargarder was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he pitched five innings while giving up just one earned (and five unearned) runs off five hits.

At the plate, Zion-Benton saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Dominic Diliberti, who went 1-for-4 with one stolen base. That stolen base marked the first that Diliberti snagged this season.

Zion-Benton's loss dropped their record down to 2-7. As for Mundelein, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 8-1-1.

While Zion-Benton had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:45 p.m. on Wednesday.
