Basketball Recap: Jay's Winning Streak Snapped at Three Games

Jay was the 46-45 winner over MacArthur when they last played one another back in December of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Jay Mustangs fell 54-44 to the MacArthur Brahmas on Friday. While the Mustangs didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Brahmas 17-12 in the first quarter.

When it comes to explaining why Jay lost, don't look at Ny'Ashia Barnes. Despite the final result, she went 8 of 16 on her way to 20 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Emmarie Baldwin, who posted six points and six rebounds.

Ellie Lee was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 21 points and 16 boards for MacArthur. Lee has been hot for a while, having also posted two or more steals the last ten times she's played. Another player making a difference was Ja'Lia Clay, who put up ten points and seven rebounds.

Jay moved to 22-9 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak. As for MacArthur, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 24-8.

Jay will square off against Harlandale at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Harlandale is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 50.4 points per game this season. As for MacArthur, they will challenge Southside at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. MacArthur also hasn't been messing around on offense: they've averaged 55.7 points per game.
