Basketball Recap: Whitko Beats Woodlan for Their Fourth Straight Win

It's playoff time, and Whitko had no trouble coming through when it counted. They enjoyed a cozy 64-47 victory over the Woodlan Warriors on Tuesday. Given the Wildcats' advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 44th, while the Warriors are ranked 136th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Whitko found their leader in sophomore Jayma Stonebraker, who went 10 for 14 on her way to 23 points and eight boards. Stonebraker continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Braisha Harrison was another key player, putting up 12 points.

Whitko was working as a unit and finished the game with 21 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in November of 2024.

When it comes to explaining why Woodlan lost, don't look at Alyssa Anderson. Despite the final result, she went 10 of 18 en route to 25 points and eight rebounds. Another player making a difference was Savannah Scheumann, who posted five points.

The win was the fourth in a row for Whitko, bringing their record for this year to 18-4. As for Woodlan, with the loss, they broke their four-game winning streak and moved their record to 14-8.

Whitko will face off against South Adams at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Woodlan does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
