Volleyball Recap: Laney Takes a Loss

Laney was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They came up short against the Hoggard Vikings, falling 3-0. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Vikings this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-0 back in September.

The match finished with set scores of 25-20, 25-12, 25-11.

Laney's offense was headlined by Katherine (Kate) Austin and Libby Harrington, who picked up four kills apiece. They got some help from Abigail (Abbey) Hendren and her eight assists. Finally, Jenna Powe kept Laney's defense grounded, leading the team with three blocks.

Laney's loss dropped their record down to 6-11. As for Hoggard, they pushed their record up to 19-3 with the victory, which was their 14th straight at home dating back to last season.

Laney didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 3-1 win against New Hanover on the 7th. Hoggard has also already played their next contest (against North Brunswick), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
