Softball Recap: Southeast Career Tech Extends Winning Streak to Ten

Southeast Career Tech came tearing into Wednesday's match with nine straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 13.6 runs), and they left with even more momentum. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Mojave Rattlers a 12-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Roadrunners, who have now won 13 contests by ten runs or more so far this season.

Laila Esparza was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out six over four innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Bea Robinson was excellent, going 1-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Gabriella Acosta, who went 1-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.

Southeast Career Tech was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .379 or higher in six consecutive games.

Southeast Career Tech's victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 17-8. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Mojave, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-11.

Looking ahead, Southeast Career Tech will head out on the road to challenge Coronado at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Roadrunners' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Cougars have averaged an impressive 7 runs per game this season. Mojave does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
