Football Recap: Grissom Comes Up Short

Grissom extended their losing streak to eight on Friday, dropping them down to 1-8. They came up short against the Austin Black Bears, falling 35-14. While losing is never fun, the Tigers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Alabama football rankings (they are ranked 223rd, while the Black Bears are ranked 77th).

As for Austin, their win bumped their record up to 6-3. They haven't had any issues with Grissom recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.

Qadir Lyle was his usual excellent self, throwing for 145 yards and three touchdowns, while also rushing for 82 yards and one TD on only eight carries. Those three passing touchdowns gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Aidan Davis, who rushed for 109 yards and one score on only 12 carries.

Looking ahead, Grissom will be playing at home against Buckhorn at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Austin, they will head out to face off against Muscle Shoals at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Trojans' defense has only allowed 6.4 points per game this season, so the Black Bears' offense will have their work cut out for them.
