Basketball Recap: Fort Yukon's Victory on Thursday Extends Winning Streak to Eight

Fort Yukon entered their tilt with Tikigaq on Thursday with seven consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with eight. They came out on top against the Tikigaq Harpooners by a score of 53-43. Given the Eagles' advantage in MaxPreps' Alaska basketball rankings (they are ranked 12th, while the Harpooners are ranked 65th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Nellie Ward was her usual excellent self, putting up 20 points. Karli Thomas was another key player, earning 12 points.

Fort Yukon pushed their record up to 12-2 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.5 points per game. As for Tikigaq, they are on a seven-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-6.

Fort Yukon has already played their next matchup, a 40-36 loss against Non Varsity Opponent on the 24th. Tikigaq does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
