Softball Recap: Lovejoy Leopards vs. Melissa Cardinals

In what's become a running theme this season, Lovejoy gave their fans yet another huge win on Thursday. They were the clear victor by an 8-1 margin over the Melissa Cardinals. Winning may never get old, but Lovejoy sure is getting used to it with their sixth in a row.

Skylar Rucker was excellent, going 1-for-2 with two runs, a triple, and two RBI. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one triple the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Kamryn Messick, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3.

On Melissa's side, they got a good showing from Eloisa Maes, who tossed 2.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits (she also didn't allow any walks).

At the plate, Melissa saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Caigan Crabtree, who went 1-for-2 with a double.

Lovejoy pushed their record up to 13-10-1 with that victory, which was their fifth straight at home. Those victories were due in large part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs per game. As for Melissa, their defeat ended a ten-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 23-2-1.
