Basketball Recap: Clarke County Eagles vs. Luray Bulldogs
Clarke County lost against Luray back in February of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Clarke County Eagles fell 55-48 to the Luray Bulldogs. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 249th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 122nd).
Despite the defeat, Clarke County saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Colton Johnson posted 14 points and three steals. Johnson continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Lincoln Booker was another key player, putting up six points.

Even though they lost, Clarke County smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Luray's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Blake Jenkins, who went 5 for 10 on his way to 18 points. Another player making a difference was Riley Benson, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and 13 rebounds.
Clarke County's loss dropped their record down to 3-8. As for Luray, their win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-2.
Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Rappahannock County the next time they take the court. Clarke County will head out to face Rappahannock County at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, while Luray will head out to face them at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
