Baseball Recap: Carlisle Wins Going Away Against Millennium

The Carlisle Chiefs got the win against the Millennium Lions on Thursday by a conclusive 14-1. The Chiefs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four contests by nine runs or more this season.

Blake Parsons and Cole Scarce were major factors while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Parsons didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out six over four innings pitched. Meanwhile, Scarce tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Carlisle is 4-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 3-4 otherwise. At the plate, Parsons went 3-for-5 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs, while Scarce got on base in three of his five plate appearances with three stolen bases and two runs. Those three RBI gave Parsons a new career-high.

In other batting news, Mason Wood and Luke Carter did most of the damage at the plate: Wood got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and three runs, while Carter went 1-for-5 with one home run and two RBI. Those two stolen bases gave Wood a new career-high. Fielding Bowles was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one run.

Carlisle is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-5 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for Millennium, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-10.

Looking ahead, Carlisle will host Oak Ridge Military Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Eagles have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 11.67 runs per game on average), something the Chiefs will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Millennium, they will venture away from home to challenge Varsity Opponent at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
