Football Recap: West Columbus Comes Up Short + How To Watch

West Columbus lost against North Duplin back in August of 2017 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Vikings were beaten by the Rebels 49-14. The Vikings were already down big by the end of the third quarter and they stayed that way after failing to score in the fourth.

West Columbus lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was DJ Graham, who threw for 142 yards and one TD, and also rushed for 47 yards. West Columbus also got help from Demond Williams, who showed off his sure hands for 85 receiving yards.

Carell Phillips was his usual excellent self, rushing for 258 yards and five scores while picking up 14.3 yards per carry for North Duplin. That's the most rushing yards Phillips has posted since back in November of 2024. Jayden Pope was another key rusher, rushing for 60 yards and one touchdown on only six carries.

West Columbus' loss dropped their record down to 1-6. As for North Duplin, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-1.

West Columbus has already played their next matchup, a 42-28 defeat against Hobbton on the 17th. As for North Duplin, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 49-20 victory against Union on the 17th.
