Football Recap: Cairo Syrupmakers vs. Thomas County Central Yellow Jackets        
        
		
             Cairo had to hit the road for their first game and  it wasn't the result they were hoping for. They were beaten by the Thomas County Central Yellow Jackets 44-14 on Friday. While losing is never fun, the Syrupmakers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage  in MaxPreps' Georgia football rankings  (they are ranked 106th, while the Yellow Jackets are ranked fifth).
 Although Cairo took the loss, they still got scores from  Bryian Duncan and  Chris Stewart.
  Jaylen Johnson was a one-man wrecking crew for Thomas County Central as he threw for 269 yards and three touchdowns on only 19 passes, and also rushed for 58 yards and two touchdowns on only five carries.  Jabari Watkins was another key passer, picking up 147 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
 The  win (which was Thomas County Central's 17th in a row dating back to last season) raised their record to 2-0.
 Cairo will face off against Thomasville at 7:30  p.m.  on Friday. As for Thomas County Central, their homestand will continue as they prepare to take on Florida State University High School at 7:00  p.m.  on Friday.
