Soccer Game Preview: Irvin vs. Austin

Irvin is 2-8 against Austin since January of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Irvin Rockets will host the Austin Panthers at 7:30 p.m. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Having struggled with five defeats in a row, Irvin turned things around against Fabens on Friday. They never let the Wildcats onto the board and left with a 1-0 victory. The score was all tied up 0-0 at the break, but the Rockets were the better team in the second half.

Meanwhile, after low-scoring totals in their previous three contests, Austin brought some dynamite into their most recent contest. Everything went their way against Mountain View on Tuesday as Austin made off with a 4-0 win. The score was close at the half, but the Panthers pulled away in the second half with three goals.

Irvin's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-8-1. As for Austin, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 6-3 record this season.

Irvin came up short against Austin in their previous meeting back in February of 2024, falling 2-0. Can Irvin avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
