Eisenhower hasn't had much luck against Spring recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Eagles will welcome the Lions at 6:30 p.m. Eisenhower has given up an average of 8.4 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Eisenhower had been on a five-game streak of scoring at least ten runs, but MacArthur put an end to it on Tuesday. The Eagles lost 12-0 to the Generals. Considering the last time the Eagles couldn't score was back in February, the team can't take the result too hard.
Meanwhile, Spring came tearing into Tuesday's matchup with six straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 15.8 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They were the clear victors by a 12-2 margin over the Falcons. The result was nothing new for the Lions, who have now won eight games by ten runs or more so far this season.
Spring got a great performance from Mikayla Zepeda as she tossed five innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits. Zepeda has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 11 consecutive appearances.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Hailey Jones-Calais, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run, two stolen bases, and five RBI. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in February. The team also got some help courtesy of Keona Jackson, who scored a run and stole two bases while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.
Spring was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .429. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .429 or higher in three consecutive contests.
Spring pushed their record up to 10-8 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.2 runs on average over those games. As for Eisenhower, their loss dropped their record down to 8-6.
Eisenhower might still be hurting after the 16-1 defeat they got from Spring in their previous matchup back in March. Will the Eagles have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other softball content.
