Softball Recap: Biddeford Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for Biddeford, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Monday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 9-8 win over the Thornton Academy Trojans on Wednesday. The Tigers have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Trojans, too.

Biddeford let Mariah Villandry and Ayla Lagasse run wild. Villandry went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run, while Lagasse went 3-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Lauren Small was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Biddeford kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 17 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in April of 2024.

The victory got Biddeford back to even at 1-1. As for Thornton Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 0-2.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Biddeford will challenge South Portland at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Tigers are facing the Red Riots at the right time seeing as the Red Riots are stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Thornton Academy, they will square off against Scarborough at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
