Basketball Recap: Wallace-Rose Hill Comes Up Short

Wallace-Rose Hill lost against East Duplin back in February of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Wallace-Rose Hill Bulldogs were outmatched by the East Duplin Panthers and fell 64-33. The Bulldogs were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 43-15.

Despite the loss, Wallace-Rose Hill still got an impressive performance from Analeise Rivenbark, who posted ten points and six rebounds. Rivenbark continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last four games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Savannah Smith, who had 11 points and four steals.

Even though they lost, Wallace-Rose Hill smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in eight consecutive contests.

Jamyah Pickett was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 22 points and 19 boards for East Duplin. Pickett is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last four games she's played. Eden Haste also deserves some recognition as she scored her first points of the season.

Wallace-Rose Hill has been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last eight matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-8 record this season. As for East Duplin, the victory was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 15-2.

Wallace-Rose Hill will square off against James Kenan at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for East Duplin, they will face off against Southwest Onslow at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Both teams are headed into the matchup with plenty of momentum (East Duplin has won 12 straight at home dating back to last season, while Southwest Onslow won three straight on the road), something that'll have to change.
