Recap: Chester Cyclones vs. Clinton Red Devils
After flying high against the Union County Yellowjackets last Wednesday, the Chester Cyclones came back down to earth. Chester was outmatched by Clinton on the road and fell 58-30. Chester has struggled against Clinton recently, as their matchup on Tuesday was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.
Clinton found their leader in underclassman Mylayja Thompson, who scored 11 points along with eight steals and six assists. Thompson has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last eight times she's played. Bryanna Belton was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with four steals.
Chester bumped their record down to 3-7 with that defeat, which was their 14th straight on the road dating back to last season. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 28.1 points per game. As for Clinton, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 12-5 record this season.
Chester will head out on the road to take on Fairfield Central at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Fairfield Central has insisted on making their lastthree contests complete nail-biters, turning in a record of 1-2 during that stretch of close contests. Clinton won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Woodruff at 6:00 p.m. on January 17th. Hopefully Woodruff focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 29 last Wednesday.
