            Softball Recap: Petoskey Northmen vs. Alpena Wildcats        
        
		
        
        
            Petoskey came out on top against Alpena  on Tuesday thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run seventh inning. The Northmen narrowly escaped with a  win as the  squad sidled past the Wildcats  6-4. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won  7-4  on Tuesday.

 Avery Leist was a  major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she  struck out six batters over  six innings while giving up just one earned  (and three unearned) runs off   five  hits. That's the most  strikeouts  she has posted  over her last four  matchups. She was also solid in the batter's box,  going 1-for-4 with two  RBI and one  double.
 In other batting news,  Mia Owens was  excellent,  going 2-for-4 with two  RBI and one  run. Another player making a difference was  Addisynn Segraves, who  went 1-for-4 with two  runs and two  RBI.
Petoskey's victory was  their third straight on the road, which  pushed their record up to 28-7. Those  road  wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as  they  averaged 8.7 runs over those games. As for Alpena,  they are  on  a  three-game losing streak  that has dropped them down to 8-11.
 Looking ahead, Petoskey will take on Houghton at 2:00  p.m.  on Thursday. The Northmen will need to watch out since the Gremlins have now posted at least ten  runs  in their last three contests. Alpena does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
