Baseball Recap: Benton Central Comes Up Short

Benton Central was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They took an 8-5 hit to the loss column at the hands of the McCutcheon Mavericks. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Bison of the 8-3 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2025.

Benton Central saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Spencer Flook, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs. Flook has become a key player for the Bison: the team is 4-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 2-13 otherwise.

Benton Central's record is now 6-14. As for McCutcheon, their win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-7-1.

Coming up, Benton Central will square off against Fountain Central at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Mustangs have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 8.25 runs per game on average), something the Bison will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for McCutcheon, they are taking a road trip to square off against Hamilton Heights at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
