Softball Game Preview: West Craven Eagles vs. Greene Central Rams

West Craven is on a five-game streak of home losses, and Greene Central an 18-game streak of away losses dating back to last season. However, someone's due for a change in luck on Thursday. The West Craven Eagles will host the Greene Central Rams at 6:00 p.m.

West Craven is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They never let Greene Central get on the board and left with a 19-0 win on Tuesday. The Eagles haven't had any issues with the Rams recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive victory against them.

Riley Dixon was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out ten over five innings pitched. Those ten strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while going 1-for-4.

In other batting news, Makayla Gibson was a standout: she scored two runs and stole five bases while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. Those five stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Izabella Sutton, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4.

West Craven kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in four consecutive games.

Greene Central's loss dropped their record down to 0-18. As for West Craven, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-10.
