Softball Recap: Lemont Beats Pontiac for Their Fifth Straight Win

Lemont took a seven-run defeat the last time they faced off against Pontiac, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Lemont HS came out on top in a nail-biter against the Indians on Saturday, sneaking past 6-5. The win was nothing new for the Lemont HS as they're now sitting on five straight.

Lemont got a big performance out of Ella Phelan, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs. That's the most hits Phelan has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Claire Podrebarac, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one double.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Lemont kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in five consecutive matchups.

Lemont's victory bumped their record up to 19-7. As for Pontiac, their loss dropped their record down to 16-7.

Coming up, Lemont will square off against Oak Forest at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Bengals' pitching crew has only allowed 3.8 runs per game this season, so the Lemont HS' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Pontiac, they will challenge St. Charles North at 3:15 p.m. on Saturday.
