Baseball Game Preview: Monroe County Falcons vs. Cumberland County Panthers

Monroe County is 2-8 against Cumberland County since April of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. The Falcons will challenge the Panthers at 5:30 p.m. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

On Monday, Monroe County got the win against Hart County by a conclusive 11-1.

Brison Nuckols was incredible, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Briar Bourque, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Meanwhile, Cumberland County waltzed into their matchup on Tuesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 4-3 W against the Patriots.

Monroe County is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-8 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for Cumberland County, their win bumped their record up to 10-8.

Monroe County suffered a grim 15-3 defeat to Cumberland County when the teams last played last Monday. Can the Falcons avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
