Softball Game Preview: Pinon Eagles vs. St. Johns Redskins

Pinon is 0-9 against St. Johns since April of 2017 but things could change on Friday. The Eagles will be playing at home against the Redskins at 4:00 p.m. Pinon has given up an average of 19.3 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Pinon fell victim to Round Valley and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They lost 18-0 to the Elks. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since April 1, 2022, but that streak is no more.

Meanwhile, St. Johns won against Hopi on Tuesday with 20 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Thursday. The Redskins beat Chinle by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 20-1. Considering the Redskins have won six matchups by more than eight runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

St. Johns got a massive performance out of Alyvia Richardson, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, four runs, and one stolen base. Richardson also hit a double, marking her first of the season. Jordynn Tsinajinnie was another key player, going a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and one triple.

St. Johns always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .541. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Pinon's defeat dropped their record down to 1-5. As for St. Johns, they now have a winning record of 8-7-1.
