Softball Recap: Bonanza Comes Up Short

Bonanza extended their losing streak to three on Wednesday, dropping their season record down to 4-10 in the process. They came up short against the Doral Academy Red Rock Dragons, falling 13-0. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Dragons this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 17-2 on April 7th.

As for Doral Academy Red Rock, they pushed their record up to 20-3 with the win, which was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season. The result was nothing new for the Dragons, who have now won 13 games by seven runs or more so far this season.

For Doral Academy Red Rock's part, Hailey Ufer made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over five innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts Ufer has posted since back in March. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in two of her four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.

In other batting news, Gabriella Rodriguez was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles. That's the most doubles she has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Gabriella Spinner, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Bonanza didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 16-0 defeat against Spring Valley on the 28th. As for Doral Academy Red Rock, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next match, a 5-0 victory against Sierra Vista on the 28th.
