Softball Game Preview: Phillips Exeter Academy Lions vs. New Hampton School Huskies

The Phillips Exeter Academy Lions will challenge the New Hampton School Huskies at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Phillips Exeter Academy will be strutting in after a win while New Hampton School will be coming in after a defeat.

Last Friday, Phillips Exeter Academy made easy work of Pingree and carried off a 20-1 victory.

Paris Tran (2026) and Regan Coco (2027) made a splash no matter where they played. On the mound, Tran (2026) pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Coco (2027) kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out nine over five innings pitched. At bat, Tran (2026) scored four runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4, while Coco (2027) scored three runs while going 1-for-5.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ella Shea (2026), who went a perfect 5-for-5 with five RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Paige Sweet (2026) was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.

Phillips Exeter Academy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .455. The last time their batting average was this high was back in March of 2024.

Meanwhile, New Hampton School unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They lost 17-0 to Proctor Academy on Friday.
