Softball Game Preview: Sugar Creek Charter Wildcats vs. Piedmont Community Charter Patriots

Sugar Creek Charter hasn't had much luck against Piedmont Community Charter recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Wildcats will challenge the Patriots at 4:00 p.m. Sugar Creek Charter has given up an average of 20 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Sugar Creek Charter is headed into Friday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their 13th straight game dating back to last season on Friday. They lost 20-1 to Queen's Grant.

Meanwhile, Piedmont Community Charter came tearing into Tuesday's contest with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 3-2 W against the Stallions. The game was the first time the Patriots have beaten the Stallions on their field since May 5, 2023.

Sophie Gibson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on five hits and racked up 12 Ks.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Chloe Rae Baker, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-3.

Piedmont Community Charter's win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-4. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.0 runs over those games. As for Sugar Creek Charter, their loss dropped their record down to 0-4.
