The Nocona Indians will face off against the Muenster Hornets at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Nocona comes in on six and Muenster on five.
Nocona gave up the first runs last Tuesday, but they didn't let that get them down. They came out on top against Era by a score of 5-2.
Reagan Phipps spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on seven hits and racked up 12 Ks.
On the hitting side, Tinley Cable was excellent, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Kaitlyn Tiffner, who scored two runs and stole a base.
Meanwhile, Muenster got themselves on the board against Alvord on Tuesday, but Alvord never followed suit. They put the hurt on the Bulldogs with a sharp 14-0 victory. Considering the Hornets have won eight games by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Muenster got a massive performance out of Anna Kay Hennigan, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with six RBI, three runs, and one triple. The dominant performance gave Hennigan a new career-high in RBI. Jasmine Hacker was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, five RBI, and one run.
Muenster kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in five consecutive matches.
Muenster's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-7-1. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Nocona, they now have a winning record of 6-5.
Friday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Nocona hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .438. However, it's not like Muenster struggles in that department as they've averaged .323. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Nocona suffered a grim 13-2 defeat to Muenster in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Will Nocona have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other softball content.
