The Blue Ridge Knights will square off against the Sullivan Redskins at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Blue Ridge is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.5 runs per game this season.
Blue Ridge is probably headed into the contest with a chip on their shoulder considering Fisher just ended the team's five-game winning streak on Monday. They took an 8-4 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Bunnies.
Mya Laidley made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. Another player making a difference was Presley Hardesty, who went 1-for-3 with one home run.
Meanwhile, Sullivan never let their opponents score on Thursday. They blew past Heritage 17-0. Considering the Redskins have won nine matches by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Tabitha Webb was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, two RBI, and one double.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Maddy Anderson, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs, three RBI, and one double. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high. Harmony Ray was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two runs and one double.
Sullivan was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .522. They are 10-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Sullivan is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-10 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.6 runs over those games. As for Blue Ridge, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-10.
Blue Ridge couldn't quite finish off Sullivan when the teams last played back in May of 2024 and fell 6-4. Can the Knights avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
