Volleyball Recap: Decatur Central Finds Home Court Redemption Against Mooresville

There's no place like home for Decatur Central, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Monday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Mooresville Pioneers 3-2. This was a revenge game for the Hawks: when they faced off against the Pioneers last Saturday, they had to take a 2-0 defeat.

Decatur Central took Mooresville into a fifth set where they got it done with a two-point win. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 29-27, 25-14, 20-25, 20-25, 20-18.

Decatur Central found their leader in sophomore Esteban Martinez, who had 20 digs and three aces. Those 20 digs set a new season-high mark for Martinez.

Decatur Central was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 13 aces. That's the most aces they've posted since the start of last season.

Decatur Central's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-5. As for Mooresville, their loss dropped their record down to 3-5.

Decatur Central didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 3-0 defeat against Franklin Community on the 16th. As for Mooresville, they have also already played their next game, a 3-0 win against Christel House on the 15th.
