Mesquite took a three-set loss the last time they faced off against Cedar Hill, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Skeeters won by a set and slipped past the Longhorns 3-2. For the Skeeters, this counts as revenge for the 3-0 win the Longhorns walked away with the last time they faced one another back in October of 2024.

In the three sets Mesquite was on fire: they won each by at least 15 points. The final score came out to 0-25, 25-0, 0-25, 25-0, 15-0.

Mesquite's victory was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 5-10. As for Cedar Hill, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost seven of their last eight matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-10 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Mesquite will challenge rival DeSoto at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Cedar Hill is set to face off against their familiar foe Skyline at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
