Softball Recap: Washington Comes Up Short

Washington had lost three straight on the road, but on Wednesday they dropped their record down to 4-3 to make it four. They came up short against the Brownsville Falcons, falling 9-0. The match marked the first time this season in which the Prexies were not able to get on the board.

As for Brownsville, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 6-3. While they didn't have the best season last year (they finished 5-10), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

For Brownsville's part, Zaydee Downer was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run and three RBI. That's the most RBI Downer has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Alexa Pellick, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.

While Washington had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday.
