Mt. Carmel extended their winning streak to six on Friday, bumping them up to 10-5. They came within a single set of losing the streak, but they secured a 2-1 W against the Cherokee Braves. While the Sundevils didn't have the best season last year (they finished 13-21), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

As for Cherokee, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-3. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 13-6 Boyd (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 67.5% over those games).

Despite the defeat, Cherokee saw an underclassman step up: freshman Kennedy Moore had six digs and two aces.

Mt. Carmel wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 2-0 loss against Boyd on the 30th. As for Cherokee, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 2-0 defeat against Sunrise Mountain on the 29th.
