Softball Game Preview: Oakton Cougars vs. James Madison Warhawks

Oakton is 0-10 against James Madison since May of 2019 but things could change on Thursday. The Cougars will look to defend their home field against the Warhawks at 6:30 p.m.

Oakton is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to ten runs on Friday, they were much more limited against Chantilly on Tuesday. They fell just short of the Chargers by a score of 2-1.

Meanwhile, James Madison came tearing into Tuesday's contest with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 13 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 6-5 W against the Bulldogs.

James Madison's victory was their 22nd straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 17-2. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.1 runs on average over those games. As for Oakton, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-5.
