Volleyball Recap: Central Comes Up Short

Central was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They fell 2-0 to the Kearney Bulldogs. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Indians of the 2-0 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in September of 2024.

Greely Simpson paced Central's offense, picking up seven kills. Simpson got some help from Hayden Root and her 11 assists.

Jane Martens was the offensive standout of the match as she had four digs and four aces. That's the most aces she has posted since back in October of 2024. Rubi Canales also deserves some recognition as she had her first block of the season.

Central's loss dropped their record down to 3-11. As for Kearney, their win bumped their record up to 8-5-2.

Central has already played their next contest, a 2-0 victory against Truman on the 20th. As for Kearney, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 2-0 win against Platte County on the 20th.
