Basketball Game Preview: Triton Trojans vs. Winamac Warriors

The Triton Trojans will head out on the road to square off against the Winamac Warriors at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Given that both suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.

Last Wednesday, Triton was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 48-44 to Oregon-Davis.

Meanwhile, Winamac was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Friday as they fell 42-36 to North Miami.

Triton will need focus on slowing down Maggie Keller, one of several Winamac players who made an impact when they last played. She posted six points and five rebounds. Those six points gave Keller a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Kandace Kroft, who put up 11 points and five rebounds.

Even though they lost, Winamac smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in seven consecutive matches.

Winamac's defeat was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 11-7. As for Triton, their loss dropped their record down to 2-15.

Triton beat Winamac 35-25 when the teams last played back in January of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for Triton since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
